Indianapolis

United States Pop-up #5

ree

I ended up sleeping in. In my haste to get to Indianapolis as quick as I could, I didn’t take any photos of my morning. I took a shower, checked my engine, made breakfast, and re-loaded my car. The drive was longer than expected due to heavy traffic only 20 miles out. My pop-up was also delayed further because I saw a post on instagram that prompted me to write a quick entry in my journal. I ended up setting up right next to the Indianapolis Arts-garden and around the corner from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Since I set up on the right side of the road for the first time in 3 pop-ups, I could use my sign.

Right as I finished setting up, a bunch of cops stopped traffic to move 4 large tour buses full of what I believe to be an NFL team into the hotel right next to me. They were very fast.

Then three ladies came up and dug into my wares. When they left, I was scared that they took a pair of pants but I found them. That interaction reminded me to be cautious when people are looking through the clothes, especially when they’re in a group and it’s hard to keep track of everything that’s being looked at. A few hours went by and people came and left, again I did not sell anything. I kept letting a homeless man to try and call his family for somewhere to stay but he unfortunately had no luck. I ran into many artists and all of them were impressed with what I was doing, and surprisingly, I was the most developed artist out of all the artists I met, so I like to imagine that these people were inspired. I left at 6:30 and went to Paris, Illinois where I set up camp for the night. Tomorrow I will pop-up in St. Louis.

See you,

RK
